Subject Matter Expert/Advisor to Congress - 2007
Beginning in 2004, I started receiving phone calls from United States House and Senate staffers. By 2005, direct calls began from Representatives and Senators on a variety of topics. The common thread was the need for assistance in negotiations with other elected officials, navigating legislative or PR challenges, and explaining complex socio-economic matters, including how Wall Street makes its money. In late 2006 and into early 2007, I was receiving weekly and sometimes daily calls from all three branches of government. Some calls were personal, where the caller sought encouragement or guidance on resolving private matters. In March 2007, I testified in a full congressional hearing about Wall Street investment fees. Later that year, I testified before the House Ways and Means Committee and the Senate Special Committee on Aging. The principal lawmakers with whom I worked most closely were Ted Kennedy (D-MA), Herb Kohl (D-WI), Tom Harkin (D-IA), Rob Andrews (D-NJ), and George Miller (D-CA). I am politically moderate and willing to serve my country for any noble purpose that advances the greater good. During my work with the House Committee on Education and Labor and the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP), I drafted legislative language for both and submitted it to House and Senate attorneys for preparation for committee review. Since then I have helped members of both parties in multiple scenarios. My work with Congress in this scope lasted through 2012. Today I continue to receive communications on complex socio-economic policy, personal matters, and PR challenges from both sides of the aisle.
