Community Service and Relationship Building
On October 12, 2024, My wife Annette and I attended the Idaho Miss Amazing pageant to support Katy (upper left, pictured with myself), the daughter of our dear friends Jimmy and Sandra Dick. We were delighted to support Idaho Miss Amazing- a program that provides opportunies and develops self esteem for girls and women with disabilities in Idaho. We were thrilled to meet Katy and many of her friends (upper right, center left, center right).
A few months later, Jimmy called with heartbreaking news: Katy had contracted a foodborne illness and was in the ICU. My colleague, Karen Harris, and I rushed to the hospital and— with the family’s blessing—were the last non-family visitors to see her before she passed. On June 22, 2025, as CEO of Mustang Transportation, LLC, I dedicated one of our motorcoaches to Katy. Annette designed the “Katy’s Bus” emblem, and Karen produced it on her Cricut machine (bottom). When we presented the coach to Katy’s family, there were tears for all the reasons you would expect. Honoring Katy in this way remains one of my most meaningful responsibilities—and joys—as CEO.

Weekly volunteer work at Cascadia of Nampa
Every Sunday, Annette and I visit Cascadia of Nampa, a rehabilitation and long-term care center. We offer a simple, respectful service. Usually a message of hope, worship, and prayer, fellowshipping and welcoming residents of every faith and background. This creates trust and strong community ties with less able bodied, but no less important residents of the Treasure Valley. We listen, comfort, and support those who attend, and we occasionally bring small tokens of care, such as orchard-fresh peaches. This work bolsters our spirit for the week, as well as the spirit of the residents we visit with.
